With just four more matches yet to be played by each team in the 2024-2025 Polish Women’s Tauron Liga regular season, the race for the playoffs takes center stage in the tournament and this weekend’s eighth leg of the second round matches promise a lot of excitement.

The top four teams in the standings, KS DevelopRes Rzeszów (48 points), ŁKS Commercecon Łódź (46), PGE Grot Budowlani Łódź (44) and BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała (39) have already booked their tickets to the postseason, leaving the other four spots up for grabs for the eight remaining teams in the league.

Among the six matches set to take place in the country from Thursday to Tuesday, Monday’s encounter between #VolleyWrocław and defending champions LOTTO Chemik Police, set to start at 20:30 local time (19:30 GMT), could be the most consequential.

The two teams were inside the qualification zone as recently as two weeks ago, but now find themselves looking from the outside - #VolleyWrocław lost their last seven matches, while Chemik have three defeats in their last four encounters.

Chemik and #VolleyWrocław are currently ninth and tenth in the standings with 17 points, but are just one point below the qualification line, which now has MOYA Radomka Radom (24), Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz (20), ITA TOOLS STAL Mielec (19) and UNI Opole (18) occupying the last four spots that qualify for the playoffs.

Considering that some of their rivals will have tough opponents this weekend – Pałac play Budowlani on Friday, at 20:30 (19:30 GMT) while Mielec face DevelopRes on Sunday at 19:00 (18:00 GMT) -, it’s likely that the winners of Monday’s match return to the qualification zone.

Chemik won the team’s duel in the first round of the regular season 3-1 in November and have massive superiority over their opponents, having claimed 27 victories in 30 duels. The last #VolleyWrocław victory happened in 2016-2017.

Also involved in the race to qualify for the playoffs, UNI Opole will have a critical match on Thursday, at 17:30 (16:30 GMT). They will play on the road against 11th-placed Sokół & Hagric Mogilno, who are fighting against relegation with 15 points, but also have their eyes set on the playoffs and could make significant progress if they take all three points at home.

Their rivals in the battle to avoid relegation, 12th-placed Energa MKS Kalisz will play on the road against Bielsko-Biała at 19:00 (18:00 GMT). With 11 points, they can still find a way into the postseason, but more urgently need to get enough points to continue in the Polish elite.

The sixth match of the week, reuniting Commercecon and Radomka, on Saturday, at 12:30 (11:300 GMT), will be a rematch of the Polish Cup semifinals last week, when the team from Łódź won 3-0.
