Rosamaria delivered as many as 35 successful swings in offense, to which she added two kill blocks and an ace towards a 38-point match high, in her Denso Airybees Koriyama’s nail-biting 3-2 (28-26, 25-27, 21-25, 25-19, 19-17) victory over Saitama Ageo Medics in a match that lasted well over two and a half hours and closed the series at 2-0 in wins. Three players added double-digit contributions to Denso’s success – middle blockers Mana Yokoyama with 12 (including two kill blocks) and Nanami Asano with 10 (five blocks), and Colombian outside hitter Amanda Coneo with 10 (three blocks, one ace). Ageo’s Slovenian opposite Nika Markovic led her team with 28 points, all in attack. Captain Yuka Sato added 21. The other outside, Serbia’s Sara Lozo, scored 18 times, including three times on the block, while sub-in outside Momoko Niida also managed to reach the double digits with 11 points in Ageo’s last match of the SV.League season.

“Today's match was a close one and we didn't know who would win until the very end,” commented Denso’s head coach Takeshi Tsuji. “I think we won because of the home-court advantage and because our players' strong will was slightly stronger than our opponents'. Saitama Ageo also played some great volleyball, and the fact that we were able to win in such a high-level match will help us in the future.”

Defending champions NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki and their visitors Toray Arrows Shiga also engaged in a five-set battle, although none of the sets was as close. The home team emerged with a 3-2 (25-21, 25-12, 15-25, 17-25, 15-7) victory and also closed the series in straight wins, advancing to the semifinals. Outside Yoshino Sato led the way with 22 points, including two aces and two kill blocks. Brazilian opposite Lorrayna Marys chipped in with 18 points, including an ace, while middle Nichika Yamada impressed with five kill blocks and finished with a total of 11 points. Italian opposite Sylvia Nwakalor was Toray Arrows’ most prolific scorer with 20 points, including two blocks. Captain Tsugumi Fukazawa put away 18 points, while Dutch middle Juliet Lohuis tallied 13.

“Toray Arrows Shiga played with such passion and it was a tough game in which we couldn't score easily, but the support of the crowd, who believed in us and supported us until the end, was a great strength, so we were able to win!” said NEC’s head coach Takayuki Kaneko. “There was a lot to learn from our opponents in today's match, and we will definitely carry this on to next week's semifinals. The team will continue to challenge itself and grow.”
