Cucine Lube Civitanova v Sir Susa Vim Perugia

Cucine Lube Civitanova will entertain Sir Susa Vim Perugia at the Eurosuole Forum, relying on the home crowd support to stay alive in the semifinals and prompt another visit to Perugia for a crucial fifth leg on Thursday. Sir, on the other hand, hope to recover from the home loss on Wednesday and bring the solid season behind to a logical conclusion in the championship final.

When they hosted the first match of the series, Sir hammered out a 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-22) sweep. In the second game in Civitanova Marche, the two sides put up a five-set battle, from which Sir emerged with a 3-2 (25-21, 18-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-10) victory. In a nerve-wracking third-leg duel, Lube upset Sir by squeezing out a 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 30-28, 22-25, 16-14) away victory and kept their hopes for a spot in the final alive. The two clubs are very close in the long-running head-to-head series, with the one from Perugia enjoying a slight 36-34 lead in wins.

“The victory in Perugia gave us even more confidence in our abilities. Already in game two we had shown that we could play on par with Sir. In the next match we took to the court with the right spirit, also showing great determination. It was our fighting nature that made the difference. I am sure that it will be the same in the fourth leg, with the addition of some technical adjustments to gain precision. We will also have the push of the fans, who will be the extra weapon on our side.” Giampaolo Medei, head coach of Cucine Lube Civitanova
“We did a great job winning at their home and they did a great job winning at our home, so I don't expect it to be an easy match. On the contrary, I expect it to be an even more difficult match than game two. The arena will be full and Civitanova is a club that is used to playing this kind of matches, so we will go there and fight. We need to reset, to battle and not get discouraged, because it's like that for everyone. So we are calm and happy to go to Civitanova to play another good game.” Simone Giannelli, setter and captain of Sir Susa Vim Perugia
