With leaders Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano and third-placed Numia Vero Volley Milano still involved in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, the 2024-2025 Lega Volley Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà starts the second round of the regular season this weekend, with matches taking place from Saturday to Sunday.

While Conegliano are safe at the top of the standings with 39 points (13 wins), there could be a lot of movement in the positions from second to sixth, with three of the five teams ranked in that range getting on the court during the weekend.

Second-placed Savino Del Bene Scandicci missed a good opportunity to cut Conegliano’s lead last week, when they lost to Igor Gorgonzola Novara, but they will have another chance to do it on Sunday, when they play 13th-placed Honda Olivero Cuneo on the road, at 16:00 local time (15:00 GMT). A victory in three or four sets will bring Scandicci, who currently have 30 points (ten wins, three losses), just six points behind Conegliano.

Fourth-placed Novara got to 27 points (ten wins, three losses) with their victory over Scandicci and need just one more point to pass Milano, who have 28 (ten wins, three losses), for third place. They can get that on Sunday, when they face sixth-placed Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76, at 15:30 local time (14:30 GMT). If they manage to take all three points, they could even tie Scandicci’s total.

The match, however, will also count a lot to Chieri, who appear in sixth place with 23 points (nine wins, four losses). A 3-0 or 3-1 victory would put them above Eurotek Uyba Busto Arsizio, who have 26 (nine wins, four losses), but won’t play this weekend.

A victory would also keep Chieri safe from Bergamo, who are seventh, with 21 points (seven wins, six losses), and have a chance of ending the weekend ranked higher than their opponents if they take all their points in their Sunday match against 11th-placed Bartoccini-MC Restauri Perugia, scheduled for 17:30 local time (16:30 GMT).
