With the eight teams set to compete in the 2024-2025 Lega Volley Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà playoffs determined last weekend, the main priority for these clubs now is to secure the best possible seeding ahead of the start of the postseason.

First place is out of range as defending champions Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano can no longer be reached, but second is still up for grabs and Numia Vero Volley Milano and Savino Del Bene Scandicci will fiercely fight for it on Wednesday, during the 12th leg of the second round of the regular season.

Set to duel at 20:30 local time (19:30 GMT) at the Opiquad Arena, in Monza, the teams are separated by just two points in the standings. Scandicci, who are currently second with 57 points, have the ability to end the battle with a victory on Wednesday, while Milano, who are third, with 55, need a triumph of their own to take the dispute into the last leg of the regular season, which will be held on Saturday.

“We have a two-point lead over them, but we don’t have to look at the standings, we need to come out and play, like we did in the first round and in the Coppa Italia,” Scandicci’s head coach Marco Gaspari said. “We need to play to win and to play the best volleyball we can. It’s obviously a key match for them as well, so we’ll need to raise our level.”

The teams have met twice already this season and on both occasions the match went to five sets, with Scandicci prevailing in the first round of the Italian League and Milano coming out on top in the semifinals of the Coppa Italia. Historically, the series is even, with 15 victories for each side.

“The two times we played this season, we went to the tie-breaker, so it’s certainly going to be an open match and it’s hard to predict what’s going to happen,” said Milano’s head coach Stefano Lavarini. “It’s going to be a high-level match and we’ll need to be solid from start to finish.”

Fight against relegation continues for four teams

With Cda Volley Talmassons Fvg confirmed as the first team to go down in the Italian League last weekend, the fight to avoid being the second relegated team will also be a hot topic in the Lega Femminile’s midweek round.

Il Bisonte Firenze made a big step last weekend, getting to 19 points and moving out of the relegation zone, but they are in a tough position to earn points this time as they face Conegliano on Tuesday, at 20:30 (19:30 GMT), in the first match of the leg.

SMI Roma Volley, who went into the relegation zone and have 17 points, will play on Wednesday, facing Eurotek Uyba Busto Arsizio on the road at 20:30 (19:30 GMT), and need a win to make sure they’ll get to their last match of the regular season still alive.

With 22 points each, Bartoccini-MC Restauri Perugia and Honda Olivero Cuneo would need a lot to go wrong in their two remaining matches to go down and they can entirely eliminate that risk on Wednesday, when they host Talmassons at 20:00 (19:00 GMT) and Bergamo at 20:30 (19:30 GMT), respectively.
