The pool stage of the inaugural edition of the AVC Women’s Champions League in the Philippines came to a conclusion on Tuesday and the match-ups for the quarterfinal round were set up. Two wins away from the Asian tickets to the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship and three wins away from the continental club title, Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu Taldyqorgan will meet Philippines’ PLDT High Speed Hitters Manila, Petro Gazz Angels Manila of the Philippines will face Beijing Baic Motor of China, Chinese Taipei’s Kaohsiung Taipower will take on Vietnam’s VTV Bình Dien Long An, and the home team of Creamline Cool Smashers Pasig will lock horns with Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima QminC in the quarterfinal duels on Thursday and Friday.

Over three competition days at the 10,000-seat PhilSports Arena in Pasig, 12 teams played two matches each in four round-robin pools of three. The top two teams from each pool advanced to the quarterfinals, while the third-placed participants were eliminated from further contention.
Four-time Asian Club Volleyball Championship medalists Zhetysu of Kazakhstan topped the Pool A standings after straight-set wins over both of their opponents: 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-17)-vs-Creamline+Cool+Smashers+(PHI)) against Creamline Cool Smashers with an impressive eight kill blocks from middle blocker Valeriya Yakutina, and 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-11)-vs-Zhetysu+VC+(KAZ)) against Jordan’s Al Naser Amman. In the pool opener, which proved to be a do-or-die affair between Creamline and Al Naser, the Filipino team celebrated a 3-0 (29-27, 25-20, 25-19)-vs-al+naser+club+(jor)) sweep, sending their eastern Asian visitors back home. Creamline’s Brazilian striker Ilisandra Klein topped the match charts with 19 points, including three aces.
In Pool B, Taipower collected a full six points to secure the first place. They started with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-14)-vs-hip+hing+women%27s+volleyball+team+(hkg)) shutout of Hip Hing Hong Kong and followed up with a 3-1 (25-15, 25-16, 19-25, 25-20)-vs-Taipower+(TPE)) victory over Petro Gazz Angels. The Filipino squad dominated Tuesday’s battle for survival with Hip Hing and mastered a 3-0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-12)-vs-Petro+Gazz+Angels+(PHI)) straight-setter, spearheaded by USA’s Giovanna Milana with 18 points.

In Pool C, after a 3-0 (28-26, 25-22, 25-19)-vs-saipa+tehran+(iri)) shutout of Iran’s Saipa Tehran, in which 18-year-old Shan Lanfeng fired five aces for the winners, Baic Motor engaged in the first five-set battle of the tournament and persevered for a 3-2 (22-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-13, 15-10)-vs-baic+motor+volleyball+club+(chn)) comeback victory over VTV Bình Dien, with a match-high 30 points from Jin Ye, including four aces. With their backs against the wall, VTV and Saipa crossed swords on Tuesday and delivered a four-set duel, in which the Vietnamese team celebrated a 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-15)-vs-VTV+Binh+Dien+Long+An+(VIE)) comeback to advance to the quarterfinals. Vi Thi Nhu Quynh led VTV in the match with 24 points.

Both PLDT High Speed Hitters and last year’s Asian Club Volleyball Championship bronze medalist Nakhon Ratchasima QminC swept their encounters with Australia’s Queensland Pirates on Sunday and Monday, respectively. Canada’s Savannah Davison powered the Filipino team to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-12)-vs-pldt+high+speed+hitters+(phi)) win, while USA’s Anyse Smith emerged as the top scorer in the Thai side’s 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-12)-vs-queensland+pirates+(aus)) shutout. In Tuesday’s deciding clash for the first place in Pool D, a five-set battle went 3-2 (26-24, 25-20, 20-25, 20-25, 15-9)-vs-Nakhon+Ratchasima+Qmin+C+VC+(THA)) the way of Nakhon Ratchasima. Davison was once again the most prolific scorer of the match with 28 points to her name, while Smith led the winners with 20 points.
