After two weeks without a victory in the 2025 Pro Volleyball Federation, the Atlanta Vibe took advantage of consecutive home matches to claim back-to-back wins in the ninth week of the regular season.

Pushed by their supporters at the Gas South Arena, the Georgia side triumphed over the Vegas Thrill and the Indy Ignite over the course of three days to add a pair of valuable wins in the standings, entering the qualification zone for the playoffs.

The Vibe’s successful week started with a thriller on Friday as the home team needed all five sets to top the Thrill 3-2 (25-18, 25-20, 25-27, 20-25, 15-13) and secure their first league win since February 16.

Outside hitter Leah Edmond played a major role in the Vibe’s victory, registering a team-high 27 points, with 25 kills and two aces. German outside hitter Pia Timmer, with 16 points, and middle blocker Khori Louis, with 13, also offered sizable contributions to the team’s triumph.

Two days later, the Vibe returned to the court in Georgia to take on the Ignite and this time got the job done in four sets, producing a 3-1 (25-23, 28-26, 22-25, 33-31) victory. Edmond was, again, the team’s top scorer with 22 points, this time getting invaluable help from opposite Merritt Beason, who tallied another 19.

With the victories, the team passed the Thrill in the standings and entered the qualification zone for the playoffs in fourth place with a campaign of eight wins and eight losses.

Rise also undefeated

Besides the Vibe, the only other team to get two victories in the ninth leg of the season was the Grand Rapids Rise, who also passed the Thrill and now appear in fifth place. The Michigan side has now won three straight matches and has a campaign of seven wins and eight losses.

Both their victories this week came against the San Diego Mojo as the teams met twice in five days. The Rise played at home on Wednesday, at the Van Andel Arena, and had no trouble triumphing 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-20). On Sunday, they made the trip to California and dropped a set, but came out on top again, winning 3-1 (25-17, 28-30, 25-15, 25-18).

Three other matches were held during the week, with the Omaha Supernovas beating the Columbus Fury 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-23) and the Ignite downing the Thrill 3-1 (25-15, 19-25, 25-16, 25-19) on Wednesday and the Orlando Valkyries defeating the Fury 3-1 (25-27, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21) on Sunday.

After the end of the weekly schedule of the Pro Volleyball Federation, the Valkyries continue in first place with 11 wins and four losses, followed by the Supernovas (10-4), the Ignite (8-7), the Vibe (8-8), the Rise (7-8), the Thrill (7-8), the Mojo (5-10) and the Fury (4-11).

The tenth week of the regular season will feature three matches on Thursday, one on Friday and three on Saturday.
