Led by Thai star setter Pornpun Guedpard, the Orlando Valkyries extended their winning streak in the 2025 Pro Volleyball Federation to five matches this week, closing the gap to the Omaha Supernovas and the Vegas Thrill at the top of the standings.

After the conclusion of the sixth week of the regular season in the American League, the teams from Nebraska and Nevada appear in first place in the standings with seven wins and three losses and the Valkyries are right behind, with seven victories and four upsets.

The team from Florida started its week on Wednesday against the Columbus Fury, who were fresh from their first victory in the season, and came back to top their opponents 3-1 (15-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-20) despite playing on the road.

The Valkyries built their victory with Pornpun dishing out an impressive 45 assists to go with 11 digs and having Puerto Rican opposite Brittany Abercrombie as their leading scorer with 15 points, all in kills.

Three days later, the Valkyries returned home and gave no chance to the Grand Rapids Rise, claiming a 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 26-24) victory to extend their winning streak, which started on February 2, to five matches.

The Thai setter had another great performance, orchestrating the team’s offense with 33 assists. Abercrombie was again the main target of her sets, producing 13 kills in her 16-point performance.

“I’m really proud with how we’ve been playing because we’ve had a really tough stretch of teams in February,” head coach Amy Pauly said. “For us to continue to take the floor and get a sweep tonight, shows how hard working this group of athletes is.”

Leaders Thrill fall to the Fury

The sixth week of the season ended with a big surprise on Monday, as the Fury, who didn’t have any victories until last weekend and are at the bottom of the standings in eighth place, upset the leaders Thrill in Ohio, prevailing 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 25-21).

Two matches were held on Thursday, with the Indy Ignite beating the San Diego Mojo 3-1 (25-21, 25-14, 18-25, 25-15) at home and the Atlanta Vibe topping the Rise also in four sets (21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-19) on the road.

On Sunday, the Supernovas played at home and swept the Mojo 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-18), while the Vibe claimed their second victory of the week by topping the Ignite 3-2 (28-30, 25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 15-13) on the road.

The Pro Volleyball Federation has the Supernovas and the Thrill in first place with seven wins and three losses, followed by the Valkyries (7-4), the Vibe (6-5), the Ignite (5-5), the Rise (4-6), the Mojo (3-7) and the Fury (2-8).

The seventh week of the season will have four matches held on Thursday and one on Sunday. On Saturday, the league’s All-Star Game will take place in Fishers, Indiana.
