After four weeks of frustration in the 2025 Pro Volleyball Federation season, the Columbus Fury were finally able to celebrate their first victory in the tournament’s regular season.

The Fury’s triumph didn’t come without effort as they were pushed to five sets by the Rise on Friday, but battled to produce a 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 26-24, 22-25, 15-8) victory and please their home fans.

The first victory of the season wasn’t enough to take the Fury out of the last spot in the standings as the team now has one win and seven losses. The Rise, who entered Friday’s encounter in a four-match winning streak, now have four wins and four losses and appear in fifth place.

Opposite Izabella Rapacz, who joined the Fury this season after playing in Poland, Germany and China, was decisive in the team’s victory, producing a match-high 24 points, with 23 kills and one block.

Also performing well for the Ohio side were outside hitter Raina Terry, who left the court with 18 points (14 kills, three blocks, one ace), and middle blockers Janice Leão and Abby Walker, who combined for nine blocking points.

The Rise got 23 points (20 kills, two blocks, one ace) from outside hitter Carly Snyder and another 11 (nine kills, two aces) from outside hitter Paige Briggs-Romine, who was only a starter for them in the tie-breaker.

Valkyries and Supernovas have perfect weeks

The Orlando Valkyries and the Omaha Supernovas were the only teams to secure two victories over the weekend. They played the same opponents, the Atlanta Vibe and the Indy Ignite, and won both duels.

The Valkyries started the week on the road against the Vibe on Thursday, but still dominated their opponents to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-23) victory. Back home on Saturday, they needed four sets to overcome the Ignite 3-1 (26-28, 25-19, 25-21, 25-20).

The Supernovas’ week followed the exact same path as the team swept the Ignite 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-23) on the road on Thursday and topped the Vibe 3-1 (25-23, 25-10, 19-25, 25-22) in front of their home fans on Saturday.

The sixth match of the weekend was held on Friday and had the Vegas Thrill beating the San Diego Mojo 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-20) in California.

After the first five weeks of the season, the Thrill are in first place with seven wins and two losses, followed by the Supernovas (6-3), the Valkyries (5-4), the Ignite (4-4), the Rise (4-4), the Vibe (4-5), the Mojo (3-5) and the Fury (1-7).

The sixth week of action of the Pro Volleyball Federation league will see seven matches taking place from next Wednesday to Monday.
